A Big Crow/Raven 11-20-2008 | 04:14 PM EST this is for a friend One re-occurring dream I have is a big crow /raven creature is swooping down on me in a peaceful field of daisies. And I try to escape into the woods and I heard it follow me and and see its shadows in the amongst the trees and its wings are so large and strong as it flies in the woods it is toppling the trees behind me *scared face* Any thoughts?? my friend is a 19 yr old female. INTERPRETATIONSWell, that definitely sounds like a scary dream! It seems like there are a couple of themes in your friend's dream--having a peaceful setting invaded, being chased, trying to escape, and sensing some danger but not being able to pinpoint where the danger is exactly. Since this is a recurring dream, it makes me wonder if these are symbols that your friend's own mind has made up to work out any generalized stress and anxiety. When she feels like things are closing in on her, out comes the crow/raven. Then again, it could be tied to some specific event in her life, say, someone upsetting who keeps re-entering her life whenever she thinks things have finally calmed down. Either way, it doesn't sound like a fun dream to have. 11-20-2008 | 08:40 PM EST Posted By: catharine It definitely sounds scary! It's interesting that your friend is being chased by a raven or a crow, though, because they both have a lot of meaning tied to them. Crows have a bit of a contradictory past -- some cultures see them as a bad omen meaning that trouble is approaching, some legends claim that they're actually helpful, and others say that they're messengers from the gods. Ravens, on the other hand, are often seen as healers and protectors; they're actually seen as good omens in a lot of countries today. Daisies, which were the other thing that caught my attention in the dream, have always made me think of childhood, innocence, and simplicity. You said that your friend is 19, and that's a hard age to be. There are tons of changes about to happen in her life, and the fact that the birds are chasing her out of the field of daisies seems oddly appropriate. Now that I think about it, maybe the dream is really just a coming of age story and it's not meant to be scary at all.
